From my earliest memories, art has been an intrinsic part of my existence; a constant companion amid the limited resources of my childhood. Drawing, particularly, became my solace and refuge in challenging circumstances, providing a means of expression and coping. Even now, art remains my essential medium for navigating personal and global complexities. When asked about the process of creating art, I liken it to childbirth – a concept conceived, nurtured, developed, and eventually brought into the world through a laborious yet transformative journey. The pain endured in the creative process becomes inconsequential upon completion.
My artistic creations delve deep into the personal, drawing inspiration from experiences and beliefs that hold profound significance for me. Unafraid of addressing controversial themes, I find myself drawn to the rich tapestry of ancient creation stories across diverse cultures. The recurring motif of the human figure in my work symbolizes our shared humanity and interconnected stories. Through art, I narrate my own tale and convey my responses to impactful events, hoping that my works resonate with viewers, even if the inspiration lies beneath the surface.
My artistic repertoire spans various mediums, employing both traditional and non-traditional techniques. While primarily a painter, my artistic evolution embraces fabrics and fibers, with a penchant for crafting my own materials through techniques like batik and shibori. From silk screen designs to gel prints, I explore diverse avenues, occasionally venturing into three-dimensional projects such as felted vessels, art dolls, ceramics, and jewelry. This fusion of mediums allows me to articulate my artistic vision in a multidimensional and dynamic manner, mirroring the intricate layers of my creative journey.
